Pyjama Trouser -4 hour sewing workshop

This dressmaking pattern course is an introductory course to help you understand the jargon used in dressmaking patterns and to improve your garments fit. This is ideal for  beginners who are able to use a sewing machine.

During this 4 hour course, you will learn the following:

1. How to read and understand  a  pattern. 

2. Understand and adjust your pattern to improve fit- full measurements taken

3. Learn what fabrics work best with the pattern.

4. Learn how to cut out and make your pattern into a wearable garment

5. Dressmaking techniques that will improve your finished garment and give it a professional finish (use of overlocker if you feel brave enough)

This 4 hour workshop is aimed at beginners with some basic sewing skills.

Learn with Heather, who's a dressmaker/tailoress.

Please note it is up a flight of stairs, but we can help carry your machines up the stairs if needed. Parking is available at the front of the property and at the back by arrangement. Please contact us for more details.

What is provided:

- Learn how to cut out the fabric and pattern placement.

- Sewing pattern in a range of sizes. Please email with bust,waist and hip measurements before the course.

- Use of irons, scissors, threads, and fabrics for your first garment..

- Help, advice and support throughout the workshop

- Step by step instructions and demonstrations 

- Refreshments including tea or coffee and biscuits and cakes.

- A fun and friendly environment to meet like-minded people.

This 4 hour workshop is held upstairs in our shop in Northallerton High Street.

What you need to bring:

- Sewing machine (if you want to use one of ours, please email info@sewnew.co.uk in advance). Don't forget the power cable, foot pedal if you use one. 

-2.5 m x 1.5m wide suitable light to medium weight cotton or 2.5m of 1.15m .(Fabrics are available in store).

-Your glasses for sewing if needed. 

-sewing threads (these can be purchesed in store)

- Wear close fitting top so that measurements can be taken accurately.

- Notebook and pen for notes

- Basic sewing kit including pins, scissors,
